OLIVE TREE IN THE WORLD



The cultivation of olive trees in the world occupies 8.6 million hectares, producing 17.3 million tons of olives.
About 840 million olive trees are planted in the Mediterranean, and 90 million in the rest of the world.


World production of olive is variable and is subject to many factors, including weather factors. Indeed, the majority of global plantations experiencing drought conditions.

Many countries have embarked on extensive programs of olive plantations, such as Argentina, Mexico, the U.S., Australia ...

The Mediterranean countries are the largest exporters of olive oil with a production rate of over 80% in olive oil.

The first four producing countries (Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey) account for 80% of world production of olives and the top ten (Morocco and Tunisia are the largest producer after Spain, Italy and Greece Turkey), all located in the Mediterranean area, 95%. (FAO).
